Carlisle United are pleased to confirm that Josh Lucas will join the club as part of Rob Elliot’s first team backroom staff.
Josh arrives from Gateshead, where he worked closely with Rob as Head of Analysis and Recruitment, having previously held the role of Lead Performance Analyst.
During his time at Gateshead, Josh played an important role behind-the-scenes, supporting the club’s work across analysis, match preparation and recruitment.
His arrival at Brunton Park as First Team Analyst will help strengthen the football department as preparations continue ahead of the new season.
Head Coach, Rob Elliot said: “Josh is someone I know well and trust. He has a strong understanding of how we want to work, both on the training pitch and in the way we prepare for matches and assess players.
“He has been an important part of the work we have done previously and he will bring real detail, energy and clarity to the football department here.
“Analysis is a key area for any successful club, and Josh will help us make sure we are well prepared, well informed and aligned in the way we move forward.”
Sporting Director, Marc Tierney added: “Josh’s appointment is another positive step as we continue to develop the football structure at the club.
“He brings experience, a strong working relationship with Rob, and a clear understanding of the level. His work will support the coaching staff and the players as we look to build on the progress made last season.”
As part of the changes to the football staff structure, First Team Analyst Glenn Boden, who joined the club in 2024, will depart.

Josh will begin work with the club immediately.
