EVERYTHING WE LEARNT FROM DAVID AJIBOYE: POST ALTRINCHAM (H)

.

After Carlisle United’s 3-1 victory over Altrincham, we spoke to winger David Ajiboye following an impressive afternoon at Brunton Park.

Speaking to CUTV, Ajiboye reflected on a goal and an assist, the patience required to earn his opportunity and the confidence the result gives the squad heading into the weeks ahead.

Here is everything we learned:

1. Delighted with the result and contribution

“I’m delighted. I’m just happy we got the win and obviously getting a goal myself makes it even better.”

2. A strong all-round attacking display

“I was really pleased with my performance. I probably could’ve had another goal, which is a bit frustrating, but the most important thing was getting the three points.”

3. Confidence behind the goal

“In training I’ve been hitting those shots, so when the ball came to me I just thought about hitting the target again and thankfully it came off.”

4. Training work paying off on matchday

“It’s really satisfying when you do something in training and then you can take it into a game. I’ve been working hard, keeping my head down and waiting for my chance.”

5. Relief after a patient spell

“It’s definitely a relief. I’ve just got to keep building on it now and show what I can do consistently.”

6. Adjusting to life away from home

“It’s been tough at times, especially when you’re not playing and you’re away from family. But that’s part of football and hopefully this is the start of a good run for me.”

7. Healthy competition on the right-hand side

“There’s good competition for places, so I can’t take my foot off the pedal. I’ve just got to keep pushing every week.”

8. Enjoying the partnership with Josh Williams

“It’s really good playing with Josh. He’s got similar attributes to me and likes to stay wide, which gives me the chance to come inside and link up.”

9. Momentum building after last week

“If we keep putting in performances like that, getting on the front-foot and scoring early, then we’ve got no worries at all.”

10. Confidence ahead of a big test

“It was important to get a win going into next week. It’s a big game, we’ll work hard in training and hopefully go and get another positive result.”
