Before Carlisle United face Altrincham at Brunton Park on Saturday, we spoke to defender Bevis Muagbi.
Speaking to CUTV, he reflected on his injury rehab process, the value of a break in the schedule, and the group’s mentality.
Here is everything we learnt:
1. A positive return to action
“Feeling good, feeling positive, nice to be back in full training and getting a few minutes here and there coming off the bench.”
2. Rebuilding match sharpness after time out
“When you've been out for two and a half, three months, it takes time. Match sharpness is the hardest thing to get back.”
3. A long but manageable rehab process
“The first couple of weeks was a bit of a drag, but once you're back out on the pitch around the boys, it goes a bit quicker.”
4. Strong support from teammates
“There were a few of us injured around the same time, and we pushed each other in the same direction to get back to full fitness.”
5. Making use of a rare break in the schedule
“That little break will give us a lot of positive energy to go into the next few games.”
6. Time to recharge away from football
“I went back to London to see my family, which was nice and spend some quality time with them.”
7. Post York City reflections
“We analysed it with the coaching staff, looked at where we went wrong and the positive things that we did.”
8. A positive and intense training week
“The energy’s been good, training’s been tough and intense, especially after having a few days off.”
9. Remembering a gritty away win at Altrincham earlier in the season
“We had to dig deep to get the victory, which was important at that stage of the season.”
10. Momentum vital as the season progresses
“The table’s tight, and every game is important. We just need to focus on getting those points.”
