We spoke to Bevis Mugabi after he signed a two-year deal at Brunton Park.
Speaking to CUTV, he said: "I feel happy to be here, there's a positive feel around the place, I'm just delighted to get it all signed and now I'm ready to crack on.
"I came here for the challenge of where the team, where the club should be, and trying to push for promotion, it interests me so I'm delighted to be here."
Having previously worked with Head of Recruitment Martin Foyle during their time at Motherwell, we asked how much influence he had on his arrival at Brunton Park, he said: "Massive, I obviously know Martin from before, he brought me up to Motherwell years ago, so when he gave me a call it was a call I couldn't really turn down."
On his career so far, he said: "I played in Cyprus last year which was nice, it was a different culture, different environment than I'm used to, and I thought at that stage in my career I wanted to try something new, and I'm glad I've done that.
"It's a good level over there to be fair, I was very surprised, I think there's a lot more technical players in playing in Cyprus, because you've got Brazilians, Portuguese players, Spanish players, a different type of player that I was exposed to, so that was good for my development as well, so it was a very enjoyable experience for myself.
The defender spent five years at Motherwell before heading to Cyprus, and we asked him how he found his time there: "I enjoyed it a lot, it's a very family club, pretty similar to Carlisle, and the fans welcomed me a lot.
"I spent five years there, a lot of time there, so I enjoyed my time there thoroughly. I had the opportunity to play in Europe as well which was a nice experience, we had a good couple of seasons playing in Europe, and it was good for the club, good for the fans to achieve that."
The Ugandan international spent his youth career with Fulham and Southampton, he explained: "Both of those clubs were good. I was at Fulham first, and then moved to Southampton, which was good for my development.
"Obviously Southampton is very famous, so producing a lot of professional players to go on and have good careers, which they've had, especially in my age group. So, yeah, definitely an enjoyable experience for myself.
"The ones who stand out are probably the likes of Luke Shaw, James Ward-Prowse, Calum Chambers. There was a lot, players who are still playing currently, which is positive to see."
He then went on to Yeovil where he made his first professional career appearances: "Yeovil was good for me, I needed it for my career, to get exposed to professional football, to get exposed to the men's side of the game. I think I was 21 when I joined and, yeah, definitely needed it, especially for a defender, a centre-half being exposed to the physical side of the game, rather than playing 21s football at that time."
As for how he'd describe himself as a player, he said: "I'd say I'm aggressive, powerful, I like to lead by example, professional, and, yeah, that's how I'd describe my game."
Having previously beaten a record set by Cristiano Ronaldo, we asked him to explain that: "It was just a header that I scored against Ross County a couple of years ago, which obviously went viral to a certain degree, and the height that I jumped at was fairly high, I can't remember the height I jumped at, but I seemed to beat Cristiano Ronaldo's record for the highest jump.
"I'm not too sure if it still stands to be honest with you, but if it does, I'll take it!"
Having met the lads for the first time on Saturday at AFC Fylde, he said: "It was nice, especially for a pre-season game, I saw the fans that actually came out to support the team, which was really, really positive, and I got to see what the manager's trying to install on the team, seeing it from an outsider's point of view, looking in, which only did me the world of good, to see what he wants from us.
"I'm going to speak with the staff to see what the programme is for me during pre-season, especially because I'm joining in pretty late, and there's stuff that I need to build up on and get that sharpness back within training.
"I played with Josh Grant at Yeovil for a season, so I know him pretty well. I've played with Harry Lewis at Southampton when we were younger, so a couple of familiar faces and obviously a few that I've played against throughout the time, so it shouldn't take me long to settle in."
Finally, on the aim for the season and his message to the fans, he said: "I've yet to experience a promotion in my career, so it's something that I'd like to do personally, and I feel like for the club especially, it'll be amazing to get back to where it should be, high up the leagues.
"All we ask if that the fans stick with us, we're going to get through the season together, and we'll just try our best to perform for them at the end of the day."
