BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Notts County

Everything you need to know ahead of our official Kick It Out fixture

18 October 2017

United complete their home game double-header against Notts County and the club is proud to designate the match as our official Kick It Out fixture.

Manager Keith Curle said: "This is another game for us to look forward to. Notts County are playing well and on the kind of run we enjoyed at this same stage last season.

"We know we have nothing to fear and our players will have the information they need to go out there and do the job for us.

"There were plenty of positives to take from the Wycombe game because even when it got back to 2-2 the players kept their belief and we continued to look dangerous. We knew we’d need to get on the ball and close them down and we got the early goal to go with it. We'll be looking to do the same on Saturday.

"Notts County won't want to come to Carlisle after the result they had at Crewe on Tuesday so we have to make sure we make it uncomfortable for them. Confidence is high with the way we've been playing recently and I expect us to carry that on with another committed and disciplined performance.

"We have dedicated today’s fixture to support the work of Kick It Out and encourage our supporters to report any discrimination they see or hear. For over 20 years, Kick It Out has played a vital role in ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, is welcome in our game.

"Their message of equality is extremely important to us and this is why we’re supporting Kick It Out’s stance against hate and encouraging all supporters to download their free app to eradicate all forms of discrimination from the game [see below for details of how to download the app]."

Club captain Danny Grainger said: "This weekend sees the club recognise the work of Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation and its commitment to reporting and eliminating discrimination from our game.

"As a squad, we all support the work that Kick It Out is doing across all levels of football. Discrimination has no place in our game, and if we can do anything as a squad to share that message, we’re more than happy to do it."

Thomas GrahamWelcome to our official Kick It Out fixture

Our home game on Saturday is dedicated to the work of Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation.

Throughout the 2017/18 season, Kick It Out will be raising awareness of the procedures in place for supporters to report any discrimination they witness or suffer at a professional game, non-league, grassroots or even online.

Kick It Out’s FREE reporting app, which can be downloaded on iPhone or Android, allows users to confidentially report incidents of football-related discrimination. The app also offers users the ability to attach video, photo and audio evidence to complaints to aid investigations into discriminatory abuse and behaviour at matches.

Aside from the app, discrimination can be reported to Kick It Out on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

It is recommended that users take screenshots of discriminatory posts on social media in case they are deleted before Kick It Out can file a report, and any report should preferably be sent to Kick It Out in a private message to ensure the safety of those reporting the incident.

These methods sit alongside the organisation’s well-established methods of reporting, including via email to info@kickitout.org and Freephone on 0800 169 9414

The Man in the Middle

Our match referee this weekend is Mr David Webb.

Mr Webb has taken charge of 14 games so far this season and has shown 35 yellow cards but has kept his red cards firmly in his pocket.

He was the match official for our recent away day at Accrington where Tom Miller was booked during the 3-0 reverse.

He was last at Brunton Park twice in the space of a fortnight at the end of last season.

Jabo Ibehre and Nicky Adams got our goals in a 2-1 win over Newport County, and Michael Raynes went in the book as we went up against Exeter City in a 3-3 home draw in the play-off semi-finals.

Goals from Shaun Miller and John O'Sullivan were added to an own goal to complete United's scoring on that night.

It’s a 64-page publication this season and it’s packed with fun, facts and features to keep you entertained during the half time break.

Programme

Our popular Head2Head feature causes turmoil in the medical department this weekend as physio Neil Dalton goes up against strength and conditioning coach Lee Fearn. It's an entertaining encounter and well worth the read.

Defender Tom Miller goes under the spotlight and reveals a hidden and deadly talent when we ask for something we didn't know about him.

Priced at just £3 it’s becoming a must-have match day essential.
