Carlisle United Football Club is delighted to announce that well-known local company World Group will continue as one of our major sponsors for the 2017/18 season with their distinctive logo set to take pride of place on the back of our first team match day shirts for a second consecutive campaign.

World Group’s association with the club stretches back as far as the 1980’s when the companies’ founder, Cliff Spooner, first took up a Ground Board advertising opportunity at Brunton Park. This season’s shirt sponsorship will be complemented by Match Programme and Ground Board advertising positions.

Sales and Marketing Director Phil King said: “World Group have been fantastic to work with over the course of the last year and I know with them being huge Carlisle United fans that they’ve really enjoyed seeing their company logo on the back of the first team shirts.

“Our relationship with them is getting stronger by the day and they are also heavily involved in the refurbishment work we will be doing in our hospitality, bar and catering areas around the ground. Their knowledge, expertise and advice have been invaluable and we are looking forward to revealing more details about these projects in the coming weeks and months.”

World Group Director Matthew Spooner said: “We have a proud history of being associated with Carlisle United and it’s a pleasure for us to be continuing our shirt sponsorship for another season.

“I felt a great amount of pride in seeing the little blue square on TV and dotted around the ground, so thank you very much to the club for giving us the opportunity to get on board. I would also like to say a huge thank you to the fans for being so welcoming.

“I must admit, I was unsure what the reaction would be last year as the ‘World Group’ brand wasn’t exactly a household name, with many people still recognising Window World as our trading name. It has been fantastic, from a business point of view, to see the awareness grow.

“We held positive discussions with Phil King about extending the deal early into last season and it’s something we’re all excited to be involved with again. There was certainly no hesitation at this end. We’re looking to work with the club, as part of this partnership, to help them develop some of the ‘less pretty’ areas of the ground and improve fan facilities and match day experience, where possible. Here’s to another exciting season.”

The current World Group structure was introduced in 1998 to offer an increased range of property improvement and homecare products alongside the existing PVC Window World products.

In recent years over £1.5 million has been invested in automating, improving and moving the business to their current Carlisle head office at Kingdom House, Durranhill, with the last few years being a story of development and market growth for their extended range of property improvements and homecare solutions. Further investment is ongoing with an extension to their head office under way, creating up to five new jobs for the local area.
