Sky Bet play-off semi-final dates announced

The dates for the 2016/17 Sky Bet Play-Off Semi-Finals have been announced as the season draws to an exciting finale with teams battling it out to secure an all-important Play-Off place.

The first Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Semi-Finals will take place over the weekend of 13th and 14th May with the return fixtures taking place on the 16th and 17th May.

The Final will be held at Wembley Stadium on Monday 29th May to determine which team secures a place in the Premier League in a match that is the most lucrative game in football.

David Wagner’s Huddersfield Town have exceeded expectations this season and look to have done enough to secure a Play-Off spot, sitting seven points clear of Fulham in seventh place with a game in hand.

The West London club are hot on the heels of Sheffield Wednesday who currently occupy sixth position going into the Easter weekend with only two points separating the pair.

Leeds United will be hoping to secure a return back to the Premier League for the first time since the club were relegated from the top flight in 2004, whilst Reading also look favourites for a Play-Off Semi-Final place in fourth place just ahead of Garry Monk’s team.

Before finding out which club will win promotion to the Premier League, the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final will be decided. The Semi-Finals take place on Thursday 4th May and Sunday 7th May with the victor earning a place in the second tier of English football.

Uwe Rosler’s Fleetwood Town have had an incredible season so far in League One, as the remarkable story continues from the depths of non-league football. The Cod Army are in third spot in the table, and are looking to gain promotion to the Sky Bet Championship for the first time in their history.

Millwall are currently unbeaten in their last three matches but look to have a battle on their hands for the last remaining Play-Off place with Southend only one point behind them in seventh.

It is currently all to play for in Sky Bet League Two with only an eight-point gap between Mansfield Town in 13th and fourth placed Luton Town in the table.

The four clubs that do secure a Play-Off spot will fight for their place at Wembley in Semi-Finals held on Sunday 14th May and Thursday 18th May.
