BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Crawley Town

28 October 2016

Everything you need to know ahead of the weekend

The much talked about club record has been broken, but there’s a determination within the group not to rest on any laurels as Crawley come to town this weekend.

As has been seen recently, the squad are as willing to roll their sleeves up as they are to play their football as they go in pursuit of positive results.

Manager Keith Curle said: “I think it goes without saying that we all have to enjoy what’s happening at the moment. You go into any season looking for momentum and we’ve definitely got that.

“Let’s remember though, that doesn’t just happen. It comes from having the right attitude, approach and preparation and that starts with the first training session of every week. If for one minute these players look like taking their foot off the gas, I’m on at them.

“The really pleasing this is that I’m not having to do too much of that. They’re looking after themselves and they’re demanding more and more from each other. There’s a hunger for success and I like that.

“What we want now is for everyone to stay with us. As I’ve said before, we want the people who came out in numbers for our last home game to come back and see us again.

“We really are building something here and if we all work at it together it will feel extra special. Believe me, there’s more to come from this group, and I don’t think any Carlisle fan will want to miss it.”

KORBR Veterans help United to launch Poppy Appeal 2017

Carlisle United Football Club are proud to be supporters of this season’s Poppy Appeal and we are delighted to welcome veterans from the Kings Own Royal Border Regiment who will be delivering the match ball and acting as a Guard of Honour for the game.

The former-soldiers, most of which are Cumbrians, are proud members of their Regimental Association and have many years of service between them. As well as enjoying the game, they are helping us to officially launch this season’s Poppy Appeal on behalf of the club.

This year, The Royal British Legion is asking the nation to Rethink Remembrance by recognising the sacrifices made not just by the Armed Forces of the past, but by today’s generation too.

For many people, Remembrance is associated with the fallen of the First and Second World Wars. While we will always remember them, the Legion wants to raise awareness of a new generation of Veterans and Service personnel that need support.

Rethink Remembrance this Poppy Appeal.
