United's 2016/17 fixture details confirmed
Carlisle United are scheduled to travel 11,060 miles to cover their Sky Bet League Two away fixture responsibilities this season and the first leg of that mammoth journey – the small matter of a 702.4 mile round trip to face last season's play-off semi-finalists Portsmouth - kicks things off on match day one on Saturday 6 August.
Our first league home fixture is on Saturday 13 August, when Plymouth Argyle make the trip to Brunton Park, and that opening month of the season includes trips to Cambridge [20 Aug] and Barnet [27 Aug].
The relatively local visits to Brunton Park for Accrington Stanley and Hartlepool come early in the campaign, with Stanley heading here on Saturday 3 September and the visit of Pools scheduled for Saturday 15 October.
The festive period takes the Cumbrians on the road this time round, with Boxing Day to be spent at Gresty Road and New Year's Eve in Nottingham for the game against Notts County.
Other notable fixtures are the visits to Blackpool and Doncaster in September, the latter on a Tuesday night, and the Easter Saturday away trip to Hartlepool in April.
The regular season ends as it starts for United with another long journey - this time the 694.2 mile round trip to face Exeter City on Saturday 6 May.
