Cumberland Building Society lends a helping hand to Carlisle United
Carlisle United’s Brunton Park ground and Blues Store were devastated in last week’s floods, so Cumberland Building Society has donated space in its Fisher Street branch to the club in order to open a temporary Blues Store in time for Christmas.
The new Blues Store opened its doors on Tuesday this week and is now selling tickets and a range of merchandise, including replica home and away kits.
CUFC’s retail manager, Jenny Anderson, said: “A lot of stock was damaged in the floods but we did have items stored above the water line. We've also had new stock delivered and, thanks to the Cumberland, we are now open again for business.
"This week has seen a delivery of new child and adult sized hoodies, child and adult hat and glove sets, and winter scarf sets. We also have replica home and away kit in most sizes, and a range of this season's training gear.
"I would like to go on record with a huge thank you to the Cumberland for providing this working space for us and to Liberty Leisurewear for the loan of hanging rails and coat hangers. FedEx have also been fantastic with us by providing a label printing service for all of our parcels and packages."
Andrew Gordon, the Cumberland’s Head of Sales, said: “As a long-standing partner of Carlisle United we were more than happy to help. We’ve been selling tickets at our Fisher Street branch for a number of years so it made perfect sense to provide them with the space to open the Blues Store. Fans who haven’t yet finished their Christmas shopping can pop down to the branch and pick up a gift or two!”
