Join us at the Shepherd's Inn
BBC Radio Cumbria and Carlisle United Football Club invite you to our 40th Anniversary Dinner to celebrate our Season in the Sun - our foray into the top flight - in 1974/75.The special feature of the evening will be a one-off screening of archive BBC 'Match of the Day' footage of four Carlisle United games from the 1973/74 and 74/75 seasons, plus a question and answer session with members of the squad and club staff from the era, hosted by BBC 5 Live's Peter Slater.
BBC Radio Cumbria Sports Editor Paul Newton said: "We saw this footage and immediately thought how fantastic it would be to show it to Carlisle fans, if at all possible, to celebrate the anniversary of that season in the sun.
"There really is some fantastic stuff in there, including clips that many people will not have seen before. It took a while to pull everything together but we're delighted, in conjunction with the club, to be able to stage this event."
Media officer Andy Hall said: "Paul contacted me a couple of months ago and told me that he had this footage. We have been looking for a number of ways to celebrate the anniversary of our Division One achievement and this fits the bill perfectly.
"Everyone at the club is excited about the fact we will have some of the squad from that era here to watch and talk about it with us and we think it will be a really enjoyable evening and event."
Tickets are £20 per person and include a two-course dinner as well as entry to the event.
