Maryport based SIS Pitches to resurface Neil Centre
Carlisle United’s Neil Sports Centre at Brunton Park is getting a revamp with a new 5-a-side pitch being manufactured and installed by Maryport firm SIS Pitches.
The pitch itself was manufactured this week in the SIS factory at Maryport, with installation taking place over a weekend in mid-July.
The pitch is SIS’s Superior 50 which is ideal for 5-a-side pitches, and has excellent softness for unrivalled player comfort. It is already being used nationally by Powerleague football centres amongst others.
SIS Pitches Managing Director Philip Nichols said: “Playing five-a-side is one of Britain’s favourite pastimes. The Neil Centre is getting between 40 – 45 hours use per week and this state of the art pitch keeps Carlisle United at the forefront of sporting provision in the city.”
Carlisle United’s Business Development Director Dale Foster said: "The Neil Centre is a facility used by our first team, the Community Sports Trust and by members of the local community and it's important that it is in good condition to allow all parties to get the best out of what is an important club asset.
"The playing surface has been deteriorating for a number of months now and that has had an impact on how we have been able to utilise the Centre, which isn't ideal.
"We have everything from full professional training sessions to Saturday morning match clubs and local five-a-side bookings to cater for, and this upgrade by SIS will allow us to bring the facility back up to full capacity, which is of huge benefit to all concerned."
SIS Pitches have also just received orders for new surfaces for Brighton & Hove Albion and Derby County, which will also be installed over the summer months.
