FL: Let's see a Wall of Colour at Brunton Park!

24 July 2014

Help us create a wall of colour on the opening day

United manager Graham Kavanagh is calling on all Carlisle United supporters to show their true colours for the opening home match of the new season against Luton Town on Saturday 9 August.

As the new Sky Bet Football League season kicks-off, fans across the country are being set the challenge of creating a ‘Wall of Colour’ at their side’s opening home league match.

Fans can get involved by donning their club’s famous colours, as well as finding the most innovative ways to show off their love for their team through social media using #WallofColour and #cufc6000.

The Blues will be looking to kick off the new season in style, with the first home result often proving a useful pointer to a team’s prospects for the season ahead.

Last season, none of the ten clubs that won promotion from the Sky Bet Championship, League 1 or League 2 lost their first home league match. Additionally, none of the nine clubs that were ultimately relegated won their opening home game.

United boss Graham Kavanagh is looking to all Carlisle United fans to play their part by making Brunton Park a sea of blue to create a memorable atmosphere to help to inspire the team.

"I've said all along that I want Brunton Park to become a fortress and this campaign should help us to achieve that," he said. "It's fantastic when the fans get behind us because it definitely makes it more difficult for the opposing team.

"Hopefully we'll see a sea of blue and some fantastic support for the Luton Town game and we'll go on to get the result we all want."

To show your support for the Carlisle United Wall of Colour in the run-up to the new season start sharing and tweeting your images of you in blue using #WallofColour and #cufc6000 right now and watch out for more #WallofColour activity coming soon.

Shaun Harvey, the Chief Executive of The Football League, said: “The beginning of the new season is always a special time, with supporters full of hope and expectation that this season is going to be their year.

“It’s great to see Graham Kavanagh calling on fans to create a Wall of Colour at Brunton Park and I hope that Carlisle United supporters rise to the challenge.

"Every side will want to make a strong start to the new season and the three points on offer could go on to make all the difference when the trophies are being handed out next Spring.”
