RESERVES: United 2 - 0 Fleetwood

14 January 2014

Details from the Reserve game today

United took on Fleetwood in their latest Central League Cup round rodbin fixture and United picked up their second win of the competition as they took control of the game midway through the second half.

1 min - Dempsey fed Noble who played a lovely one-two to release Brough on the left flank. His first time cross went harmlessly behind.

6 mins - United controlled the early play and a good passing move down the right left Dempsey with space to shoot. He let one fly from distance but it was always going wide.

9 mins - A poor clearance fell for Noble but his long range effort was blocked before it got into the box.

10 mins - Dempsey fed a superb cross into the area but Jordan watched it all the way and chested it down for the keeper to gather.

13 mins - Chantler, who took a nasty knock on his ankle, was replaced by Danny Hodgson. Patrick Brough dropped to left back.

17 mins - United recovered a half cleared corner and Noble spotted Meppen-Walter in space. Mark Beck jumped to meet the cross but his header was right at the stopper.

19 mins - Brough clipped a cross to the penalty spot and a nod down from beck had Lynch interested until Wright hooked it away for a corner.

26 mins - Fleetwood attacked down the right hand side and Wright made the byline as Murdoch played him through. His low cross had to be handled with care by Robinson.

34 mins - Great move from Carlisle sparked by an inside pass from Hodgson to Noble. He split the defence and invited Symington to try his luck but the wide man rifled high over the target as he met the ball on the run.

44 mins - After a quiet spell Stuart Murdoch took matters into his own hands with a thundering drive from deep. Robinson plucked it out of the air from beneath his bar.

47 mins - Fleetwood attacked in numbers but a block from Brough deflected a powerful shot away for a corner.

51 mins - Slick passing opened United up and a low ball across the face of the area found Dieseruvwe in space just 10 yards out. Robinson produced a supern one handed save to deny a certain goal.

52 mins - United responded with a quickfire break and Hodgson wheeled away in frustration as Maxwell tipped his shot onto the bar.

54 mins - Jordan was in acres of space but he somehow sent his header from 12 yards wide when it looked easier to hit the target.

58 mins - Symington lost his man and swung the ball into the box. Beck moved to head it but he couldn't get enough on the glance and the ball was hooked to safety by Jordan.

61 mins - Noble replaced by Hammell.

66 mins - A surging run from Thomson took him past two and his cut back invited Danny Hodgson to shoot. Maxwell was unsighted as the ball whipped under his body and into the back of the net.

69 mins - Symington provided the cross and Mark Beck made no mistake with the finish as he nodded home from just ten yards.

72 mins - Connor Hammell ran forward from midfield but his shot came off the top of his boot and flew high into the Warwick.

83 mins - Elliott on for Thomson.

87 mins - Elliott stole a march on the left flank and sent a perfect cross into the box. Hodgson connected well but Maxwell spread himself to make the save.
