Fundraising for U12 international tournament
The Carlisle United u12 academy team will be entering the Keele International Tournament on behalf of the club again this year and a fund raising effort is underway to cover the costs as we speak!
With the cost of taking part expected to be somewhere in the region of £3,000, the lads are putting a lot of effort into raising the cash so they can be part of the tournament and get the full value from the football and fun on offer.
Their first magnificent fund raising event will take part on 28 January at the Clip 'n' Climb facility in Maryport ... and, we have to say, it's quite a challenge!
Each player has been set the task of climbing the equivalent height of Blackpool Tower and they have just one hour each in which to complete the feat.
Every player who goes on to complete the challenge will receive a certificate and a good old fashioned stick of Blackpool rock.
Academy coach Ben Benson said: "The lads are big fans of the Clip 'n' Climb facility and they were delighted when they were given the chance to give this a go.
"We applied for a Football League grant to cover part of the cost of going to the tournament but we still have some way to go to make sure we'll be there. That's why the lads have decided to do this sponsored event at the Clip 'n' Climb facility.
"We are hugely proud of all of the players for taking responsibility for fundraising for the tournament. We would also like to say a big thank you to everyone at Clip 'n' Climb in Maryport for supporting us once again and for hosting the Blackpool Tower challenge for us."
