LOAN: Striker extends stay

2 January 2014

Front man stays for another month

Carlisle United Football Club have today signed Manchester United forward Tom Lawrence for a second one-month loan deal which keeps him at Brunton Park until 28 January 2014.

Wrexham-born Lawrence, 19, joined the Cumbrians at the end of November and has scored three goals in his seven appearances so far. His double strike against Tranmere earned him the Sky Sports Goal of the Week first and second positions for that week, with an overwhelming share of the public votes going in his favour.

"Tom is another we know all about and he has had a fantastic first month with us," manager Graham Kavanagh said. "We've all seen the quality and we know that there is plenty for us to work with.

"There are still areas he can improve on but he is exactly the type of player we want here with us. It'll be good to work with him again as go on through January."

Lawrence joined the Red Devils when he was eight and progressed through the ranks to become part of the 2011 FA Youth Cup-winning squad.

He has represented Wales at U17 and U19 level and is highly rated at Old Trafford having scored goals regularly in the Development Squad.

This transfer is subject to the completion of all paperwork ahead of the Friday noon registration deadline for the FA Cup game at Sunderland on Sunday.
