United played well but two goals after the break earned the home side the result on what was another encouraging day for the young Cumbrians.
"We were the better side but we just couldn't take our chances,"Academy manager Alan Moore said.
"We played some good stuff, in bad conditions, so we come away feeling pleased despite the result."
