Troy Archibald-Henville on coming to United

New arrival Troy Archibald-Henville had a whirlwind 24 hours at the back end of last week as he agreed and jumped straight into a one-month loan spell with United when he played a huge part in an important 0-0 draw at Brentford.

We caught up with him shortly after full time on Saturday to get his thoughts on the day.

“Brentford are a team that are probably going to do well this season but we gave a good account of ourselves,” he said. “That’s two games unbeaten in the league and we just need to carry that on. We’re heading in the right direction now and that’s the important thing.”

“It’s not ideal to come into a game like this when you haven’t met anyone but that’s football for you,” he added. “I felt like I did ok, but I think I can do even better. There’s definitely more to come from me so I’m looking forward to playing more games.

“Winning a few early challenges was important. Like any player, you want to get off to a good start in every game because it helps to calm you down. I think that’s even more important when you’re making your debut and people don’t really know what you’re about.”

“It was about 3 o’clock on Friday afternoon when I found out that this move might be happening,” he explained. “I had about two hours to make a decision so it all happened very quickly. Like I say, things like this come up in this game so you’ve just got to be ready all the time.

“I’d spoken to the people at Swindon and I told them that I wanted to play some games. It’s been a good while since I’ve had regular football so I’m pleased that this has come up for me. I think this is a great opportunity for me.

“There was a little bit of hesitation while I was making my mind up but I think that’s just because it was all so sudden for me. I thought about it and, with this being a good League One club, I knew it was going to be good for me in the long run. Hopefully I will be able to help the club and it will help me. There’s only good can come out of this in my opinion.”

“The manager at Swindon has told me to get here, get my football and get fit,” he said. “My time at Swindon hasn’t gone well for me at all so far. I’ve got more to prove and I know I can do better. It’s up to me to start doing that now.

“I think I have got something to prove but that’s more to myself than anyone else. I’ve been out for a while with an injury and that’s stopped me from playing as much as I wanted to. It’s a personal thing that I’d like to prove to myself to go back there and do well.”

“Things have started well for me here, though,” he added. “We’ve kept a clean sheet against a good team and the lads have really welcomed me in. We’ll see how this month goes and then we can decide where it goes from here.”
