CHARITY: Tickets for Troops

17 October 2013

Carlisle United salute Her Majesty’s Armed Forces

Tickets For Troops would like to remind everyone that Carlisle United are once again supporting the charity by donating tickets for their home fixtures at Brunton Park this season (2013/14).

The military charity, which provides free tickets for sporting, musical and theatrical events to members of the Armed Forces, established a partnership with Carlisle United during the 2012/13 season.

Over 85,000 football tickets have been donated to the charity since 2009 and last season alone saw in excess of 35,000 football tickets distributed to servicemen and women across the UK.

Currently over 19,000 tickets have been donated by Football League clubs for the 2013/14 season.

Members of the Armed Forces and those who have been medically discharged from the services since 2001 can book tickets via the charity’s website www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk

Media officer Andy Hall said: “This is a charity we're always keen to support and it's fantastic that we have been able to do so again this season.

"The lads and lasses are doing an extremely difficult job and if this goes some way to boosting morale then it can only be a good thing."

Tickets For Troops Chairman Lord Marland said: "The men and women of Her Majesty's Armed Forces are doing such an extraordinary job during these difficult times and it is fantastic that Carlisle United have wanted to demonstrate their support and appreciation in such a generous way."

England talisman and Tickets For Troops Patron Steven Gerrard MBE said: “Young men and women are risking their lives every day and Tickets for Troops is a very simple way of respecting their courage and their sacrifices.”
