Another development centre set to open
Following the success of our South Lakes Development Centre Carlisle United will be setting up another centre in Whitehaven for u7, u8, u9 & u10 players.
An open day - free of charge to all who attend - will be held on the astro-turf surface at Whitehaven Amateurs from 10am to 2pm on Saturday 13 July for all interested parties.
"We had 95 children at the open day we held in the South Lakes area so we hope this one will be another success," academy coach Ben Benson said. "Players will be selected from the open day sessions and we will then start a regular coaching programme.
"The first programme is due to start on Tuesday 10 September."
"The development centres allow the players to carry on playing in their local teams with their friends," he continued. "That's important at this age as it's something they all like to do.
"With the development centre they get the best of both worlds. They can play and train with their friends at their grassroots club at the same time as training with us. If they do well at the development centre then naturally they will step up to the main academy."
