News from today's youth game
United dominated the first half at Preston this morning but they failed to convert four very good first half chances and were made to suffer as the hosts took the lead courtesy of a Dale Minor own goal right after the break.
Preston then consolidated their lead as they had the better of the second period, but it was an opportunity missed for a Carlisle side who played very well.
"It was a very tight game but we should have been ahead before half time," Eric Kinder said. "We missed our chances and it was going to come down to who made a mistake. Unfortunately it was us and they sealed it when they got their second late in the day."
