Striker on the road to recovery
Scottish front man Lee Miller has spoken optimistically about his recovery and how he hopes to return and aid Carlisle United in a pursuit to regain the form that resulted in last season’s play-off push.
Miller had just recovered from a groin problem at the back end of last season when luck dealt him a cruel blow in the form of an ankle injury, a result of a ‘clumsy tackle’ and by no fault of his own.
The long stretch on the side-lines from the end of 2011/12 to the start of the new campaign will have come as a new experience to Miller who has had a relatively injury free career and he hopes, following this blip, it will stay that way.
“I’ve been fortunate in my career,” he said. “I’ve never had a lot of injuries so hopefully I’m on the road to recovery and I won’t get any more."
Miller has had to sit on the side-lines while former Scunthorpe partner Joe Garner has topped the club’s goal scoring charts with 7 goals in 12 games.
With Miller Carlisle’s top-scorer last term despite his injury late on, it is a partnership that fans of The Blues will be desperate to see if Garner’s loan is extended.
“We did really well at Scunthorpe when we were there and I think that would be good for the team, but we’ll have to see what happens.”
With fellow Carlisle striker Rory Loy also on the road to recovery and getting minutes under his belt, when Miller gets back in action he believes it will be like having two new signings.
“Hopefully we can recapture the form we showed last season together but there are lots of players like Higginbotham and Garner coming in and lots of different mixes and matches you can play. However, we’re all working towards the same cause.”
