FA CUP: Cherries picked for United

4 November 2012

Another home tie for the Cumbrians

Carlisle United have been drawn to face AFC Bournemouth at home in the second round of this season's FA Cup competition.

The mid-table Cherries, under returning manager Eddie Howe, were at Brunton Park as recently as the end of last month where goals from Pugh (2), Grabban and Barnard earned them a 4-2 win and the three points from an entertaining game.

Manager Greg Abbott said: "I think we say the same thing after every cup draw but the fact is that everyone wants a home tie.

"We've got that and it's one we can look forward to. However, and again to repeat myself, we have the very, very important business of league games to play and points to pick up between now and then.

"We're obviously delighted to have got through a very difficult game against Ebbsfleet because the aim for every club at this stage is to get to the third round. The hope then is that you get a big draw and you get all of the excitement and the financial implications which go with it.

"However, Bournemouth will be thinking the same way so we'll have to make sure we do it properly when it comes around next month.

"We've already seen first hand that they are a good side and Eddie [Howe] has them playing some decent football again. We know all about each other so it's a game where both sides will be confident that they will progress."

Ties to be played during the first week of December - full match details to follow.
