Donaldson set to feature on Tuesday
Free agent Ryan Donaldson will return to Cumbria on Monday morning and is set to play some part in the last pre-season friendly of the summer at Morecambe on Tuesday night as his trial spell with United continues.
Striker Donaldson came through the youth ranks with Newcastle United and enjoyed loan spells with Tranmere and Hartlepool during his time in the north east.
He first teamed up with Carlisle for their friendly victory against Durham City two weeks ago and came off the bench to play for half an hour in the Friday evening home game against Middlesbrough.
"Ryan came in to train with us on Wednesday last week and he spent a few days with the squad," manager Greg Abbott explained. "He's shown us some good things and he's one we want to look at again.
"All being well he'll come back in next week and he should be involved on Tuesday night. We can then make a decision from there."
