Midfielder moves on
Former-Darlington midfielder Dale Hopson has ended his spell at Brunton Park following an extended summer trial period with the club.
Hopson, 19, teamed up with the Cumbrians at the beginning of July and gave the manager plenty to think about as he impressed during training and with his appearances in the run of pre-season games.
"We've had to allow Dale to move on but it was a really tough decision for us to make," manager Greg Abbott said.
"He's a great lad and he has come in, kept his head down and worked really hard. The reason he has been with us for a month is that he has shown us that he's a good player and we wanted to be absolutely sure with him.
"As we keep saying, the tough part of it is that we have to be certain we're bringing people in who are going to make an immediate impact, and Dale has been unlucky in that we already have some real quality in the position he plays.
"We have to base our final decision on that but what we can say is that he's a fantastic lad and a good player and we wish him all the very best as he moves on."
