Rob Elliot was appointed Carlisle United Head Coach in May 2026, after a coaching career that has seen him manage at Gateshead and Crawley Town.

He first became involved in coaching at Gateshead, initially joining as Technical Director in 2022 before taking charge of the first-team in 2023.

Elliot enjoyed a playing career spanning almost two decades, representing Charlton Athletic, Newcastle United, Watford and Gateshead, while also earning four senior caps for the Republic of Ireland.

During his first spell at Gateshead, Elliot guided the club to a sixth-place National League finish and the 2024 FA Trophy, before moving to Crawley Town in October 2024.

He returned to Gateshead in January 2026 and helped the club secure National League survival before moving to Cumbria.
