Carlisle United can confirm that the required regulatory approval for the appointment of Tom Lawrence as Chief Executive Officer has now been received.
Tom will now formally take up the role, having already spent recent weeks working closely with the Club’s ownership, staff and Football Department during the approval process.
That period has allowed him to develop a detailed understanding of the Club, its immediate priorities and the opportunities ahead.
Tom will also join the Carlisle United Board of Directors as part of his appointment, reflecting the authority and responsibility of the role and his involvement in the Club’s strategic decision making.
Tom Lawrence said: “I’m delighted that the process is now complete and that I can formally take up the role.
“The time I’ve already spent at Carlisle United has been extremely valuable. I’ve had the opportunity to get to know the people within the Club, understand more about how it operates and listen to supporters who care deeply about its future.
“There is enormous potential here, but there is also plenty of work to do. Our clear football priority is to return Carlisle United to the EFL, and my immediate focus is on ensuring the Football Department has the support it needs to pursue that objective, while continuing to strengthen the Club as a whole.
“That means improving our financial and commercial performance, communicating openly with supporters and maintaining high standards and accountability throughout the organisation.
“The support I’ve already seen first-hand reinforces the passion, expectation and potential surrounding this Club. We have a responsibility to match that with the standards, ambition and progress our supporters rightly expect.”
Tom brings extensive football, legal and business experience, having previously served as Chief Executive at Southend United and Gillingham.
He will work closely with the Club’s ownership, Board, Football Department and staff as Carlisle United continues to develop both on and off the pitch. This includes delivering the club’s vision
