Micah Obiero was pleased to score his first Carlisle United goal in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Forest Green Rovers.
The forward brought the Blues level at Brunton Park and admitted it was a special feeling to get off the mark in front of the home support.
He said: "It’s always a good feeling scoring a goal.
"When you join a club, you want to get off the mark as fast as you can.
"There’s no better way than scoring at home, so it’s a good feeling scoring in front of the fans."
Obiero showed composure when the chance fell his way, keeping his finish controlled under pressure.
"You can rush it, you can drag it, but I just tried to keep composed and get a good connection on it. Luckily for me, it went in."
He was also quick to praise Teddy Jenks for the work he did in the build-up to the equaliser.
"Teddy was great, you could see the intensity to get in there and get in the box, and luckily it fell to me.
"It was intensity all around, and we’re going to need that throughout the season."
Despite the personal milestone, Obiero admitted there was still frustration that United were unable to turn their pressure into three points.
"It’s another one where you’re just frustrated.
"We could have won it, so it’s one of those where you’ve just got to go to the next one and try again."
United had fallen behind from a corner before responding quickly, and Obiero felt the reaction showed the resilience within the group.
"It’s easy to put your head down after conceding from a corner, but we responded well.
"I think the intensity before then was good, and it was nice as well getting the goal."
The Blues continued to push for a winner late on, but Obiero felt things just did not quite fall their way.
"It’s frustrating because we’re doing all the right things; it’s just not landing, and it’s not going our way, but things will change.
"It’s a long season, and there are so many games, so it’s just about taking each game as it is. We’re not losing these games, we’re drawing them, so it’s not the worst.
"But we know what we can be as a tea,m and it’s just about going on to the next game and hopefully winning that one."
