A Carlisle United XI were beaten 5-0 by Workington AFC at the Fibrus Community Stadium.
Goals from Brennan Dickenson, Josh Palmer, Luke Hunter, Tom Stephenson and an own-goal from Alex McDonough proved to be decisive as United lost on the road.
The Blues made 11 changes from the team that started at Fir Park on Saturday against Motherwell, with a youthful side selected.
Both sides started on the front-foot with both goalkeepers being forced into saves, Nathan Wheatley came the closest to breaking the deadlock for the Blues.
The hosts would take the lead just past the quarter-hour mark when Dickenson finished past Sam Worth with an effort from the edge of the box.
They would double their lead less than five minutes later when Palmer was able to finish from close range after getting on the end of Stephenson's low ball into the six-yard box.
The Reds would grab another goal soon after when Alex McDonough turned the ball into his own net when trying to cut-out a dangerous ball across his box.
Hunter would get their fourth goal of the evening after rounding Worth before being able to finish into an empty net.
United came close to pulling a goal back through Reuben Towers, who showed some great footwork to beat several Workington defenders, but his powerful strike narrowly missed the target.
Workington nearly made it five before the break, but Worth showed great reflexes to stop Hunter from getting his second goal of the evening.

The hosts would make it five soon after the restart to the second-half however, when Tom Stephenson was sent through on goal, before finishing past Worth.
United were unfortunate to not get on the scoresheet after creating several chances, but Workington’s ‘keeper was on-form to keep them out.
With 20 minutes left on the clock, Workington nearly added a sixth of the evening when they hit the bar following an out swinging corner.
