MATCH REPORT: WEALDSTONE FC 0-1 CARLISLE UNITED

/

A resolute performance saw United take all three points in a 1-0 win against Wealdstone at Grosvenor Vale.

Luke Armstrong’s first-half header from Archie Davies’ corner gave the Blues the victory in North West London, keeping their unbeaten start to the season alive.

First Team Coach Frankie McAvoy took charge of the team in Manager Mark Hughes' absence due to a prior, longstanding family commitment and made three changes from Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Solihull Moors, with Cameron Harper, Junior Luamba and Stephen Wearne coming into the side.

The Blues started the brighter of the two teams, with Terell Thomas coming close from a corner before Armstrong had a goal ruled out due to a foul on the Stones' goalkeeper, Dante Baptiste.

Gabe Breeze had to be sharp to deny Sean Adarkwa in the 13th minute, with United responding through efforts from Jack Ellis and Regan Linney.

United took the lead in the 19th minute when Armstrong rose highest at the near post to nod Davies’ corner past Baptiste, giving the Blues the early advantage.

Deon Woodman nearly had the hosts on level terms, heading over the bar from the centre of the box.

Linney nearly caught Sam Cox’s side on the counter but was denied by Baptiste before the keeper nearly gifted Armstrong with a chance when his clearance deflected wide off the United striker.

HALF-TIME: Wealdstone FC 0-1 Carlisle United

Linney continued to cause the hosts problems in the second half and had a shot blocked by the defence before Harvey Macadam’s effort from distance was pushed away by Baptiste.

Breeze’s shot-stopping skills were tested to the maximum, pulling off a remarkable save to deny Woodman from close range in the 56th minute.

The Blues managed to get behind the Stones' defence thanks to Davies’ precise through ball, but Linney could not finish off the move and extended his side’s lead.

United remained firm, limiting the hosts to very few chances and saw out six minutes of added time to confirm their second win on the road during the 2025/26 Enterprise National League campaign.
