Carlisle United are delighted to announce the appointment of Louis Storey as the club’s new Assistant Head Coach.
Storey has previously worked alongside Head Coach Rob Elliot and has become a trusted member of his backroom team, operating as a player-coach last season.
Having worked with him at Gateshead and Crawley Town, Storey brings strong knowledge of the way the Head Coach wants his teams to work, both on and off the pitch.
He was named Interim Assistant Manager at Gateshead in October 2023 before later gaining the role permanently in June 2024, playing an important role during a successful period for the club.
As a young and highly regarded coach, Storey brings energy, modern ideas and a strong ability to build positive relationships with players. He will now form part of Elliot’s first team backroom staff, working alongside Gavin Skelton.
He joins the club in a full-time coaching capacity and will not have any playing duties.
Speaking after joining the club, Louis Storey said: “I’m really pleased to be joining Carlisle United. It’s a club with real history, passionate supporters and big ambitions, and I’m excited to be part of what we’re building here.
“I’ve worked closely with Rob before and I know the standards he sets every day. I’m looking forward to supporting him, working with Gav and the rest of the staff, and helping create an environment where the players can improve and perform.
“There’s a lot of work ahead, but that’s the exciting part. I can’t wait to get started and play my part in helping the club move forward.”
Sporting Director, Marc Tierney added: “We’re delighted to welcome Louis to Carlisle United as Assistant Head Coach.
“Louis brings strong values, excellent coaching expertise and a proven ability to build positive relationships with players. His experience and knowledge of the standards and culture we aim to continue developing will be a valuable addition to our coaching team.
“Having worked successfully alongside Rob Elliot before, he will complement both Rob and Gav Skelton well as we further develop the first team environment and support the progression of our players.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming Louis to the club and seeing the impact he can make.”
Head Coach, Rob Elliot said: "Louis is someone I know and trust, and I’m really pleased to bring him into the club.
“He understands how we want to work, the standards we expect every day and the environment we want to create for the players.
“He has excellent relationships with players, brings real energy and detail to the training ground, and I know he will be a valuable addition to the staff.”
Louis will begin work with the club immediately.
