HARVEY BUNKER ARRIVES AT BRUNTON PARK

.

Carlisle United are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Harvey Bunker on a two-year deal.

Bunker, 23, will make the permanent move to Brunton Park with his contract at Forest Green Rovers set to expire at the end of the month, seeing the Blues move swiftly to secure his signature amid interest from elsewhere.

Harvey came through the ranks at the Gloucestershire-based outfit, where he signed his first professional contract in July 2020 at the age of 17.

During his time with the club, he went on to make 149 senior appearances and scored 11 goals, despite operating primarily at the base of midfield.

Alongside his development at The Green, he gained valuable first-team experience through a number of loan spells, featuring for Chippenham Town, Weymouth and Scunthorpe United while still progressing within his parent club.

These loan spells played an important role in shaping his development, exposing him to different tactical systems, styles of play and competitive environments, while also building the resilience and adaptability required in midfield.

Rob Elliot, Head Coach, said: “Harvey is an exciting young player. He has had experience in higher divisions in League One and League Two, and obviously knows the National League well.

“I still think the best is yet to come from him. He can play in a couple of positions in midfield and at the back. I think he's someone who brings great physicality and technicality.

“He's a great lad. He wants to be here. I feel like he sets the right tone in terms of young, aggressive players who want to get better personally, and at Carlisle."

Jacob Blain, Recruitment Analyst, added: “Harvey was a key target for us as we entered the summer window, and we managed to act quickly to get a deal agreed despite interest from other clubs.

“It was clear from meeting Harvey how hungry he is to progress in his career and succeed at Brunton Park. After sitting down with him and Rob explaining how he fits into his plans, it was evident that he wanted to be part of it.

"I’d also like to thank his representatives for their role in helping to get the deal over the line.”

This move is subject to ratification from The FA and National League.
