After scoring a hat-trick against Reading to send Carlisle United into the second round of the Emirates FA Cup, we spoke to attacker Regan Linney.
Speaking to CUTV, he discussed a majestic three-goal performance, a special result in the cup and a spirit growing in the squad.
Here is everything we learnt:
1. Hat-trick hero
“It's a special feeling.
“I've come off the bench and managed to score a hat-trick. So, it's a special feeling and a massive win for the boys.”
2. A comeback to remember
“Coming from 2-0 down against a League One outfit is special.
“So, yes, the boys are really happy.”
3. Belief in abundance
“I thought if we got one, then we'll get another, and that's exactly what we did.”
4. Passing the test
“When the third one went in, it was a special feeling.
“I wanted to test myself today against a League One outfit, and I managed to score three. So, I can't have had a better day, to be honest.”
5. Making an impact off the bench
“It's massive. I was on the bench, so I was a little bit gutted about that.
“But everyone played their part, and obviously scoring three is massive. I'm really happy.”
6. Perfect game management
“We all dug deep there at the end. They were piling on a little bit of pressure as well.
“So we all worked really hard and managed to get the win.”
7. Confidence continues to grow
“I see it more and more every week, to be honest. All the lads are together, the gaffer and staff.
“Everyone in the club as well, so I really see us kicking on.”
8. More to come
“We've got a massive game coming up now. We'll enjoy it tonight on the way home.
“And then once it's done, we'll get back to training and go again.”
9. A fantastic feeling
“Like I've said in most of my interviews, that's what I play football to do, especially big stadiums like this.
“And to manage to score three and celebrate in front of our fans is a really special feeling.”
