After netting twice in the 3-0 win over Sutton United, we caught up with Harvey Macadam.
Reflecting on an impressive individual display, Macadam spoke about his goals, the team’s dominant performance and the momentum building at a crucial stage of the season.
Here is everything we learnt:
1. A dominant team display
“Delighted, I thought we dominated from start to finish.
“The first-half was superb, it was a joy to play in.
“And the second-half, there were no dramas.”
2. Personal performance and recognition
“I’m really pleased, especially to get two goals.
“But I thought all the lads who came in were outstanding.
“It was a real team performance.”
3. Playing for absent teammates
“It’s a big loss for us [Alex Gilliead being out], no doubt.
“But hopefully that gives us extra motivation to do it for him.
“We want to finish the season strong for him.”
4. Momentum at the right time
“We’re unbeaten in six now.
“It’s coming at the perfect time in the season.
“We’re in a really good spot heading into the run-in.”
5. Reward for taking chances
“We work on getting into those positions on the edge of the box.
“I just pulled the trigger and it went in, maybe with a little deflection.
“I’m glad to see it pay off.”
6. Making an impact in the box
“It was a great ball in [from Callum Whelan] and I managed to get up well.
“I directed it across goal and it’s gone in.
“It’s always a great feeling scoring at home.”
7. Fast start setting the tone
“The gaffer tells us to start bright every game.
“We’ve done that really well in recent matches.
“It’s something we want to keep doing.”
8. Comfort in a deeper role
“I dropped in a bit deeper today.
“But I’ve played there plenty of times before.
“I’m comfortable wherever I’m needed.”
9. Building midfield partnerships
“We train together every day so it comes naturally.
“When you’ve got good players around you, it makes it easier.
“The understanding is building all the time.”
10. Focus on finishing the job
“We’ll prepare the same as always and go for all three points [at Truro City next weekend].
“If we can wrap things up early, even better.
“And hopefully we can give the travelling fans something to cheer.”
