United and University of Cumbria #OneCarlisleOneCommunity celebration at Brunton Park.

Carlisle United FC and University of Cumbria are teaming up to celebrate the individuals and organisations making their mark upon our community.

Building a bright future for Carlisle and Cumbria, the club and university will be recognising many of those who are contributing to community wellbeing and vibrancy next month when the Blues take on Stevenage.

The EFL League One fixture on Saturday 23 March will warmly welcome guests from selected groups and charities from across the city.

In the coming days, invitations to the #OneCarlisleOneCommunity match will be sent by University of Cumbria Vice Chancellor Professor Julie Mennell and United’s chief executive Nigel Clibbens.

Allocations of pre-paid tickets for members and guests who accept the invitation have been kindly donated by sponsors, reinforcing the shared role and commitment held in supporting people and place, in the city and across Cumbria.

Joining United and the university in building this bright future together, fans are asked to get behind the Blues for the remainder of the season.

To bring a bumper crowd to Brunton Park on 23 March, pre-sale ticket prices across all age groups for the Stevenage fixture are being slashed with fans urged to turn out in their thousands and be the Blues’ important 12th man.

Earlier this month, club senior figures, including owners Tom and Patty Piatak, visited the Fusehill Street campus of the university that is situated less than a mile from Brunton Park and discussed future collaborations to support the growth of the area.

Carlisle United chairman Tom Piatak said: "This event has the potential to be a cornerstone occasion for the entire city and community, transcending the interests of Carlisle United alone.

“My vision is for the club to serve as a focal point within the community, fostering unity among its members. I encourage organisations and individuals to partner with us, uniting for an exceptional event and collective progress.

“Our club is committed to nurturing pride and acknowledging the greatness of Carlisle. We eagerly anticipate a strong turnout at the game, with broad representation from various organisations."

Professor Julie Mennell DL said: “Sport has a special power to bring people from all walks of life together, to share an experience with a sense of togetherness and collective pride.

“Through our partnership with Carlisle United and teaming up with partners working across Carlisle and Cumbria, we hope to use this occasion to recognise the many individuals and organisations that work to make our city and county a better place to live, work and thrive – and to thank them for all that they do for us and others.”
