Carlisle United can confirm that the appeal against the red card shown to Jon Mellish in the Salford game on Saturday has been rejected by an FA Review Panel.
The Cumbrians submitted video and written evidence to support the appeal but the panel decided that the dismissal handed out by referee Seb Stockbridge on Saturday was a correct decision.
Mellish will now serve a three-match suspension, effective immediately.
