United were back at home after an enforced break for their Saturday morning meeting with Preston North End.
And the young Blues won, despite not being at their best, thanks to goals from Nic Bollado and Mason Hardy after the way side had taken a first-half lead.
But there was bad news for Bollado late in the day after he picked up his second yellow card.
"We didn't play well, but we got the goals and saw it through to get the points," youth boss Mark Birch said.
"There are things to work on from it, so we'll have plenty to do next week."
