PFA: Moxon wins the monthly award

We are delighted to announce that midfielder Owen Moxon has won the PFA Vertu Motors Fans' Player of the Month award for December.

An outstanding month for 'one of our own' put him on the monthly shortlist with Salford's Matt Smith, Stockport County’s Kyle Wotton and Will Collar, Northampton's Sam Hoskins and Stevenage's Carl Piergianni.

Voting on the 90min.com website fans from across the division picked out the United playmaker as the standout individual, with the trophy delivered on Tuesday afternoon ahead of today's announcement.

His goal aganst Crewe at the end of the month topped up an excellent month of performances as he helped the Cumbrians climb to fourth spot in the table.

"It's always nice to get something like this and this one is even more special because it's voted for by the fans," Owen told us.

"When people are getting nominated for things, be it the manager or players, it means that everyone is doing well. None of us can do it on our own, so that's the important thing.

"Hopefully we all carry on to build and improve on what we've done through the first part of the season so that it's an enjoyable and exciting run-in for all of us."

Our number 4 received 23% of the votes to take home Decembers award, beating fellow nominees Kyle Wootton (Stockport County), Matt Smith (Salford City), Sam Hoskins (Northampton Town), Carl Piergianni (Stevenage), and Will Collar (Stockport County).

The PFA and Vertu Motors have also announced winners from the Premier League, WSL, EFL Championship and EFL League One, with Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Laura Coombs (Manchester City), Amad Diallo (Sunderland) and Marvin Johnson (Sheffield Wednesday) claiming the award.
