At the start of the season, the football authorities introduced new measures and stronger sanctions across the game to tackle anti-social and criminal behaviours.
At the vast majority of games, and for almost all our fans, their behaviour has been exemplary.
Our support home and away has increased and the atmosphere is fantastic - the best in years.
However, we are seeing a concerning increase in the use of pyrotechnics - including flares - from our fans at games, and especially when we travel for our away fixtures.
Across the game we have seen that a number of injuries have come from these incidents, including burns and breathing problems alongside damage to hands, hearing, lungs and eyes.
As a major fire hazard, pyrotechnics can also cause damage to stadiums and their surroundings.
We all saw the firework go off close to Mick Kelly at Barrow which, we all agree, was actually a frightening experience.
At Crewe, the restart was delayed by two flares which were let off by Carlisle fans and, unfortunately, we then saw the same again just after the first goal had been scored in the 5-1 home victory over Barrow.
As a result we have once again been reported to the FA.
The club is very much under the spotlight for this type of action.
Chief executive Nigel Clibbens said: “We recognise that our support is brilliant, and this is down to a very small number of people, but the flares have to stop before someone is harmed, or the club is penalised.
“I am sure fans all know by now, it is illegal to bring flares into stadiums and there are consequences for anybody who breaks the law, or the ground regulations.
“Anyone caught possessing or using flares, or pyrotechnics, will be reported to the police. Prosecution could result in a permanent criminal record.
“The pitch must remain safe for players, managers and match officials, just as the stands and terraces should be for supporters.
“We repeat the message again – and yes, it’s a message that is directed at the tiny handful out of many thousands of fans who go to our games, but pyrotechnics put people at risk and are not welcome in Brunton Park, or at our away games.
“For Carlisle’s Sake, and for Football’s Sake ... FFS ... No flares!”
