It's been a while since we last saw Mr Simpson with his last taking charge of a game featuring the Blues way back in September 2019.
That was when we playd host to Exeter City - who left Brunton Park with a healthy 3-1 victory. Olufela Olomola bagged for the Blues, but Lee Martin and Aaron Martin had already done the damage before Nicky Law wrapped things up in time added on. Mo Sagaf and Harry Mckirdy were the home names taken on the day.
Prior to that he was with us for our away game with Accrington in February 2016. The night started in the worst possible way for the Blues when Jabo Ibehre was sent off with just 34 seconds on the clock (the card was rescinded later that week).
The ten men dug deep on the day, and they even took the lead in the first half when Hallam Hope struck from close range. Terry Gornell got the equaliser after the break, but that was after Stanley were also reduced to ten men when Adam Buxton was given his marching orders.
