Harrogate Town v Carlisle United, Tuesday 8 August, kick off 7.45pm

Harrogate got the perfect start to their season on Saturday thanks to Jack Muldoon's second-half penalty as they came away with a deserved away win from their Yorkshire derby with Doncaster Rovers.

Muldoon picked his spot in the 66th minute after Joseph Olowu had felled Abraham Odoh in the box.

Their transfer window activities started at the end of May with the capture of Huddersfield loanee Matt Daly on a permanent two-year deal.

Defender Liam Gibson left Morecambe to sign the same length of contract, and there were defensive additions in the form of Rod McDonald and Bradford's Matty Foulds.

Burnley stopper Lewis Thomas kept the transfer treadmill spinning when he agreed a one-year stay in June.

Another former Bantam was secured when Alex Pattison put his name to a three-year contract, and Dean Cornelius came south from Motherwell to add more options in the middle of the park.

Winger James Daly made the step up from the National League when he left Woking to pen a two-year agreement, and Abraham Odoh completed the set as he departed Spotland to gead across to the other side of the country.

Jack Muldoon is a very steady performer, but we've opted for the man who has been mentioned a couple of times already - Abraham Odoh.

He was highly thought of at Charlton, as he was at Rochdale and has pace and power to burn. He'll be looking to add goals to the repertoire, but he's definitely one to keep an eye on.

Harrogate took all three points away from Brunton Park in February 2023 despite not registering a single shot on target. It was a horrible Paul Huntington own goal that secured them the win.

There were plenty of goals over in North Yorkshire in November 2022. Taylor Charters gave United the lead with a beauty, and Ryan Edmondson restored it after Luke Armstrong had levelled. Warren Burrell and Jaheim Headley put the home side in front, but Owen Moxon earned the Blues a point with almost the last touch of the game.

First-half goals from Diamond and McArdle gave the home side a two-goal cushion when United were in Yorkshire in April 2022. Jack Diamond added a third in time added on.

The Papa John's Trophy meeting in January 2022 at Harrogate brought an early goal from Luke Armstrong - and that proved to be enough to settle the tie.

The Sulphurites took the points home with them in November 2021 with George Thomson and Alex Pattison netting for the away side.

It was a 1-1 draw at Brunton Park in April 2021. Josh Kayode scored in the second half for the Blues - Jack Muldoon had put the away side ahead early in the game.

Harrogate currently hold the bragging rights courtesy of a Josh March penalty in the first half of the game in February 2020 which was enough to earn the Sulphurites their win.
