NORWEGIAN BRANCH: Sponsorship of the ball plinth continues

Our fans from Norway continue to back the Blues

22 August 2022

It’s become part of the pre-match build-up since 2018, and we’re delighted to confirm that our fantastic Norwegian Branch have once again committed to the sponsorship of the ball plinth, which takes centre stage as the players and officials walk out of the tunnel ahead of every home game.

The Branch, which has now been in existence for just over 20 years, has previously sponsored the club’s mini-bus, winter clothing for the under-18 squad and donated money to help with Academy projects and tournaments, taking their overall sponsorship total to close to £16,000.

Commercial assistant Kerry Evans said: “The ball plinth was a fantastic idea and it’s such a visible way for the Norwegian Branch to show their support for the club.

“Almost as soon as the season ended they were in touch to see if they could take up the same sponsorship package again, and that’s a great way to demonstrate their loyalty and support for the Blues.

“Not only will we see the plinth at every game, there will also be an eye-catching ground board at the side of the pitch.

“We thank Pål [Meier] and the Flekkefjord Branch for their continued support, and we look forward to seeing them at a home game very soon.”

Chief executive Nigel Clibbens said: “I say this every year, but I can't speak highly enough of our Norwegian fans.

“It’s brilliant when we receive copies of their local paper, which often showcases their support of our club, and we're always delighted to see them when they pop over.

“The ball plinth is such a good way for them to take part in every match day, even when they can’t always be here.”

Pål Meier said: “We are very happy to sponsor the Blues because the club is in our hearts.

“Our first trip to Brunton Park was in Easter 2004, and we have been travelling over to Carlisle two or three times each year since.

“The pandemic stopped us for two seasons, and it was a great feeling when we could visit once again for the last home match against Stevenage at the end of April.

“We have many friends in Carlisle, the club always welcomes us warmly and, we love to be a little part of the Carlisle United family.

“We hope to visit Carlisle and Brunton Park for many years to come in the future.”
