United’s weekend victory at Cambridge came courtesy of goals from two of the club’s January signings, with Nick Anderton’s second for the club complemented by a first net bulger from striker Lewis Anderton.
Speaking about the impact the January signings have made on what has been a continued steady improvement in performances collectively, boss Chris Beech said: “It feels a lot longer than that when they came!
“It was good business as well, it really was. There was no king’s ransom paid. It was David [Holdsworth] being very articulate and intelligent, along with our little snippets of information we can get, who was supporting and backing me on. We did really well in the end.
“We were supported in January, but the numbers have been able to be rectified while doing that. It hasn’t just been a case of investment, but good business, and that includes all the signings we made.
“I’m also really pleased that a few of them in that January window were permanent signings. It’s very much helped us to start to create what we want to see overall from the group.”
