CLUB: BBC Radio Cumbria step in to help archive appeal

BBC Radio Cumbria have stepped forward to help the Blues rebuild the club archive which was decimated by the Storm Desmond floods in December 2015.

The Sports team at Radio Cumbria have been hosting interviews and Friday evening chats with former-United favourites like PaulSimpson, Glenn Murray, Steve Hayward and Michael Bridges through the lockdown period, and the recordings of the interviews are now being hosted on the club's popular YouTube channel, where fans can listen again at their leisure.

In addition, the Saturday afternoon Retro Commentaries, which have featured huge moments and favourite games from United’s recent and not-so-recent past, will also be provided for storage in the archive and for use on the YouTube channel.

Already on the channel are the famous Jimmy Glass game of May 1999, an exciting FA Cup encounter with Everton, a momentus occasion at Mansfield and, uploaded this weeked, the vital must-win home game against Millwall in 2009 (incidentally the legendary Derek Lacey's last commentary fixture).
