The behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly between Workington AFC and Carlisle United, due to be held at Borough Park on Saturday 15 August [kick off 3pm], has been cancelled.
The Reds held a contact training session on Tuesday night, in preparation for a busy run of summer fixtures, and a player has since shown a positive Covid-19 test result, even though he is currently asymptomatic.
Under current regulations social distancing measures must be applied, and Workington AFC have moved quickly to ensure the safety of their staff, players, and those of Carlisle United, remains paramount.
The under-18 fixture which was due to be played at Creighton Rugby Club on Friday night, and would have made a double-header of fixtures between the clubs for the weekend, has also been cancelled with safety once again the first and foremost consideration.
