We can confirm that both of this season’s Sky Bet League Two fixtures against Southend United will now kick off at the earlier time of 1pm, following consultation between the two clubs.
The Shrimpers make their first visit to Brunton Park since August 2014 when they head north for our league clash on Saturday 19 September, with the return meeting at Roots Hall on Good Friday, 2 April 2021.
Chief executive Nigel Clibbens said: “When the fixtures came out and we looked at the Easter weekend matches, Chris [Beech] felt an earlier kick off at Southend would be of benefit to the players, given the time it takes to travel back after the final whistle.
“Southend had no problems with that at all, and they requested in return that we do the same for their game up here next month. We agreed, and it’s been a good example of clubs having positive dialogue together.”
