Our latest academy U9 group officially signed for the club on the Brunton Park pitch ahead of Saturday’s home game against Exeter as they now begin their first season in the Carlisle United academy.
The players were joined in their official signing photo by chief executive Nigel Clibbens, director of football David Holdsworth, head of academy Eric Kinder and academy lead foundation phase coach Robbie Edgar.
Speaking about the experience, Robbie said: “It was a great day for these young potential stars of the future, with many of them bringing the whole family down to Brunton Park to see them sign on the pitch.
“We are really excited by this group and we believe the young players coming in each year are getting better and better.
“This is largely down to the Development Centres in West Cumbria that Mark Birch and I set up a couple of years ago, coupled with improvements in grassroots coaching around the county. Our scouting network has also been improved, and we are linking up more and more with local clubs.
“Many of these lads have also been in our pre-academy system for the last season or so, and it is brilliant to see them now get together as an official U9’s academy squad.
“We wish them all the best during their time with Carlisle United academy.”
