The first United for Business event of the new season was a very enjoyable morning for new and old members alike as the group accepted an invitation from Carlisle Airport’s General Manager Paul Martland to hold last Friday’s meeting inside the new terminal facility, with an eye-opening tour of the airport thrown in for good measure.
United for Business is now in its sixth year of operation and its members regularly head ‘off site’ with trips to London, The Lakes Distillery, Morecambe, and now Carlisle’s newest state-of-the-art transport hub particular highlights in recent seasons.
United for Business spokesman Kevin Dobinson said: “Our members were impressed with what they saw and heard from Paul. He gave us an overview of how the airport will function and spoke informatively about what is an exciting future for the facility.
“It’s an excellent link for us to forge and Carlisle United are pleased to be working closely with Stobart Aviation to help to support and promote the airport and the benefits it will undoubtedly bring to the region.”
The group was then addressed by director of football David Holdsworth, who spoke about the Thursday morning fixture release and the Carabao Cup away draw against Barnsley. He also updated the members on the ongoing recruitment work and the aims of the club next season, as Steven Pressley looks to take an energetic and exciting team into the top seven places of the division.
United for Business members were then given a preview of the brand new ERREA home and away kits, ahead of the weekend launch in the city centre. The traditional blue and eye-catching mint green home and away kits were well received, with a host of positive comments about the choices made.
The meeting closed with a question and answer session where a range of topics were covered and discussed.
United for Business has had an excellent start to the 2019/20 season with 20 members already signed up and confirmed. The members represent a great range and variety of local businesses who support the club financially and who often provide free expert advice to the club.
