Carlisle United have today launched a new phone number to cover enquiries across the ticket office, club shop, commercial office and all other areas of the club.
The number, which costs the same as calling a local 01228 number, and is included in most mobile phone bundles which have minutes included, will allow fans to order tickets and merchandise from the club without incurring extra phone charges.
If your phone tariff offers free calls to landlines at certain times of day, or has inclusive calls or bundled minutes that cover calls to landline numbers, calls to the new 0300 number will be included in these deals on the exact same basis. Details may vary depending on your phone provider, so it is best to check directly with the network.
Finance director Suzanne Kidd said: “The 0844 number was expensive for fans to call, but we are in a position where we can move on from that agreement now.
"We’ve investigated the different options with the help of Online Systems to find the best solution for our fans, and this 0330 number is what we’ve decided to provide.
“Calls to the new number are included in mobile phone bundles, so if you have an allowance of so many minutes per month you will be able to call this number the same as you would call an 01228 number. Even if you’re on a pay-as-you-go mobile deal, or are calling from a landline, the charges are the same as calling any other 01228 number.
“We’re in a position where we can move on from the agreement with the company who provide the 0844 number, and we know it was something which was a thorn in the side for fans who wanted to purchase their tickets over the phone in recent years.
"We hope this makes the experience easier for everyone ahead of the new season.”
Chief executive Nigel Clibbens said: “We’re pleased to be in a position where we are able to change the phone number as it’s one which will improve the service, at the same time as reducing the cost to fans.
“The new number has different options, so you can be put through directly to the most common departments across the club, including the Blues Store and commercial office, which should also reduce the time spent on hold for people wishing to book a meal in Foxy’s or purchase merchandise from the club shop.
“We know the 0844 number was an issue for a lot of fans, and we’re pleased to have been able to improve that service.”
