SKY BET: Jamie Devitt up for Player of the Month

Midfielder nominated for monthly award

6 March 2018

Carlisle United are delighted to confirm that our very own Jamie Devitt has been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two February Player of the Month award.

The award, winner to be announced on Friday morning, recognises outstanding individual performances which have contributed to successful team results.

On being nominated for the award, Jamie said: "It’s great to be nominated but I think any player will tell you that you get things like this because of the way the whole team are playing.

"We’re picking up points and wins and you always enjoy your football when that’s the case. The goals I’ve scored have been a bonus, because that was a target I set myself at the start of the season. I could probably have had a few more, but I’m playing with confidence and hopefully I’ll continue to play my part in helping the team to get into those top seven places."

The four nominated players are below:

Jamie Devitt (Carlisle United) - midfielder
Carlisle’s set piece creator made a telling contribution with four goals and two assists in six games. Playing more centrally this season, his pinpoint free-kick against Colchester and fine strike at Notts County highlighted his ball-striking ability.

Jimmy Dunne (Accrington Stanley) – central defender
In his first taste of EFL football, the 20-year-old Irishman was asked to mark some of League Two’s strongest strikers in John Akinde, Marc McNulty and Uche Ikpeazu. Only four goals conceded and three clean sheets in six games say he coped well.

Mohamed Eisa (Cheltenham Town) - striker
The 23-year-old has turned on the style since Christmas with eight goals in his last 11 games. Four came in February, including a hat-trick against Port Vale as he showed off his close control, quick feet, dribbling ability and clinical finishing.

Marc Richards (Swindon Town) - striker
Have goals, will travel. Swindon is the 35-year-old forward’s 11th club of his career, yet the results are the same. Equally adept with head and feet, his five goals in six games owed everything to his predatory instincts and calmness.
